| GCG is an adventure genre? Not having stepped outside of it for over two years or so, I'm interested to know what you think defines it. I'm almost certain this is something that has come up before, but I am currently in the process of becoming totally nocturnal and the jet lag doesn't wear off until about 9pm. So nyeh. | |

Heh, well nowadays, I know that I wouldn't define a GCG adventure as "an adventure with the Nyctomaw in it", as I would have in my more primeval days. I guess I can't really define the GCG genre, except to say that when I think of GCG adventures, I think large props and ships, which I intend to include in this adventure.

| Can you explain what "GCG" and "neonplanet" are? | |

The GCG is (/was, unfortunately the group has nearly died) a clan of builders who made adventures centering around a conflict between warring factions. GCG stands for Galactic Coalation of Guardians, the main "good" faction. Neonplanet is the name of an adventure creator I admire a lot, and he makes a very distinct style of adventure. Some people liken his creations to Parkaboy's, but they are really pretty different once you understand the intricacies of both styles. Hopefully that made sense.

Intricate backstories for each of his races, the tendency to set his adventures in official-looking colonies, and shiny paintjobs. http://www.spore.com/view/myspore/neonplanet

| So is this going to be just one adventure or a series? Because honestly, adventure series annoy me because I always find parts of a series in my sporepedia but it's too hard to have the whole thing in one place. With one-shot adventures, I'm just like "oh cool an adventure" and I can play it and be done with it. | |

Well, my plan is for this to be a one-off, but I'll be leaving it open ended in case I feel inspired to make a sequel. My main mistake making adventures before was that I had a massive series planned, and each part was taking so long, it felt like it would never end. So I quit. Hopefully that won't happen this time around. And I'll make a sporecast with all the props and creations that are used in the adventure, just to save people the hassle.

I wonder if I should finally finish that adventure I started making forever ago.... Thanks! I'm hoping for a good result as well. Also, new screenie of one of the creatures that will make an appearance in the adventure: I know the angle is a bit weird, I took it quickly and my game crashed before I had time to redo it.

Thanks to you both. I should have a few more pictures up later today. EDIT: New picture. This is a prototype for the interior of the tower that you saw in the previous pictures.

| The walls are shiny and the feet don't go into the floor. Good work so far. | |

Thanks, though very likely one of the issues will pop up. I'm fairly sure the feet-through-floor issue will sneak its way into some of the larger sets I've got planned, but I'll fix it somehow.

| I hate it when a creature's or Captain's feet go into the floor. It's a nuciance! Still what your doing here is something better then what I would come up with. I hope you'll be able to finish this with triumph. | |

| Usually using disguised gates as buildings keeps the feet through floor glitch away (and keeps complexity down). If in the future it does happen and its at a point where it would be really irritating for it to be happening, invisible upsidedown jump pads should fix it.
Come to think of it, invisible upside down jump pads fix a lot of things....

| I never really thought of that huh. I always drag the floors into the ground, hoping the feet don't get dragged in. I might try that method instead as it might save me some trouble. Thanks for sharing it! | |

| Yes, I've used both the upside-down jump pad trick and the moving the platform close to the ground trick. I used to use the disguse as a blue gate trick for nearly every prop, but I decided against it for interiors, seeing as a spazzing camera could easily lead to a view from outside the inteior, which is notably more ugly. Also, new screenie. This is of a Ronaiaan Governor, who will probably play a large part in the storyline.

Come to think of it, invisible upside down jump pads fix a lot of things.... Upside down tech pads work better for fixing the falling through the floor glitch than upside down jump pads.

| Tech pads are one of the static objects you can find in the objects library. They are pink/purple with orange and grey. And because they aren't a gameplay object, they may save complexity. | |
