I have a server now. Im just messing with bukkit and stuff, then it will prob be obline this weekend. I can run it now, cuz i got a crazy fast new comp, so its not supersauce laggy.

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but when 1.9 comes out will it auto-update or do I have to click "download" again. If it's the second one, when I re-download it do I keep my same files?

Notch stated that there will not be a 1.9, instead he'll continue with pre-releases until he releases the full version, at mine con. On 11/11/11

Okay, but can you know answer my questions?

To update to new versions of the 1.9 prerelease you have to do it manually. Here are the steps:
Mac (not sure what OS you use so I'll do them all.... Besides Linux):
Go to your home folder.
Find "Library" then "Application Support" and the "minecraft".
Go into the bin folder and drag minecraft.jar to a safe backup spot.
Drag in the new minecraft.jar you downloaded from twitter/the forums.
All set!
WinXP:
Go to "run" and type in %APPDATA%
Find ".minecraft"
Go into the bin folder and drag minecraft.jar to a safe backup spot.
Drag in the new minecraft.jar you downloaded from twitter/the forums.

Win7/WinVista:
Go to "run" and type in %APPDATA%
Find "roaming" and then find ".minecraft"
Go into the bin folder and drag minecraft.jar to a safe backup spot.
Drag in the new minecraft.jar you downloaded from twitter/the forums.

Oooooooooohhhhhhh. Nononononono you won't. You'll log in and I will say "new updates available.... Would you like to download?" and if you cluck yes it will auto download. What I said above is just for pre-releases.

If you have a cracked copy, yes.

If you bought it, the game will do the work for you.

I am happy to say that through the awesome generosity of Camelfox, I now have Minecraft ! Closely after my first time playing minecraft was my first time accidentaly wandering into a cave and dying in minecraft!

I just dug a deep moat around my house and when it's night I put the game on hard, so the mobs fall in the moat and die. Lol. Btw, I have 3 melon plants and I'm trying to get rid of a mountain next to my house so I have more land. I almost have an entire large chest, each space with 64 dirt blocks. Suggestions on how to get rid of it faster?

Use TNT? Or maybe you could somehow spawn a whole bunch of Silverfish under the hill...

I'd say use the gunpowder the creepers give you to make TNT and blow up the moutain. Then you can even it out with a shovel, pick, and all the dirt you have in your chest.

Cool, I just built a deep moat. At night Creepers fall in it and I kill them for gunpowder. I'm going to add Dispensers to kill them too. Thanks.

My house on my friends server. Made without creative, however if you notice I am in creative mode. I use it to fly.

Wow, thats awesome Drew. I hope the inside looks as good as the outside . I should post my house here. I think I'll wait till I get enough wool for a carpet though.

I'm thinking about a "Share your Minecraft house thread for this very reason. I love getting cool ideas for my house.

It's a hack/mod, or simply something on a server. In a regular minecraft game, you won't encounter pure water blocks unless you're in creative. BTW, that thread isn't such a bad idea.

You still can't get pure water/lava blocks in Creative. Only buckets.
The only way is through Spawning it out with the /give commands, or through TooManyItems (Which on servers, also does the /give commands).
