(Sorry we're getting a bit off topic but I'll try to stop after this)

Yeah, that's only a bit less than the entire internet. 400 exabytes less but still, that's not much less. Lol.

826008000000000000000 bits.... Whoa...

a single terrabyte is more than enough to install, run and play a LOT of new games. So that amount of memory space is completely inexcusable. And considering that I've only been able to get my hands on terrabyte hardrives, and they're VERY expensive, I don't think our memory storing technology is to the point where we can make compact exabyte, or petabyte hardrives, or any other storage devices.

And yes Lazer, please stop. It's also slightly ironic because you started most of these shenanigans :/

The guy in that video sounds like an Aussie surfer...

But honestly, if this technology is real, it's going to be sick. My gut tells me there's some strings attached though.

Sounds like somebody trying to BE an Aussie surfer, in my opinion.

Honestly, I didn't find the graphics in the vid that amazing. And when I play a game I don't spend my time looking to see every spec of dirt of to see if the tree I'm camping behind is "fiction" or "non-fiction". I don't mind if this method was made useable, but for now, I'll stick with my polygons.

I'm sticking to polygons for three reasons.

One, WAAAAAAAY too much detail is put into it than there even needs to (10000+ atoms for a spec of DIRT?! Who's going to notice a spec of DIRT!?)

Two, you're going to need the freaking Matrix to run this thing with the amount of memory it requires. And even IF your system can run that sort of thing, think of the huge development times it'll take for game developers to map out their worlds, off-the-chart loading times for game systems, and colossal installation times for PCs! You thought WoW takes long to install? YOU AIN'T SEEN NUTHIN' YET.

Three, who cares about this minor leap in graphics? As you can already see from current gen titles such as Crysis 2, Call of Duty, Forza Motorsport, and even the most recent World of Warcraft expansion, graphics are already at a Hyper-realistic stage without using this atom system, so I see no reason to change.
