Again, this is from EuroSpore, I just feel after the recent issues with swearing in the chatbox that the rules on acceptable language should be cleared up. Obviously, I am only a humble Chat Moderator, so this is not gospel, just an idea so you guys can discuss where this forum stands on the various words.

CENSORSHIP INFORMATION

Right, it is clear that this needs clearing up.

Censored

These words are outright banned from EuroSpore. Deal with their use and bypassing as if they were flaming, spamming or trolling.

Bastard and derivatives.
Fuck and derivatives.
Cunt and derivatives.
Shit and derivatives.
Twat and derivatives.
Piss and derivatives.
Asshole
Arsehole
Wank and derivatives.

Moderation

Although not banned outright, they are OK in moderation and when in context.

Ass
Arse
Bloody
Crap and derivatives.
Pornography and derivatives. Mainly because of what the subject may lead to.
Bollocks
Bitch is obviously acceptable when talking about a female dog.
Bugger

Acceptable

Butt (partly because it is a surname)
Damn and derivatives.

Please, feel free to discuss the censorship and way we deal with this here.

NB: None of the words are Censored in the chatbox, so if you see them used, those in red are an immediate warning, followed by kicking and banning for consistent use.

Some people these days are unaware of which words are swear words, so thanks for making this thread to clear it up for everybody. Now I no longer have to hear, "That's not a bad word! What are you talking about?"

NB: This thread is only visible to Admins, Mods and Chat Mods.

Also, call me a n00b if you want, but what does NB stand for?

NB = Nota Bene, which means "Note Well" it is not necessarily an internet term, it is a literary term used to highlight anything that needs to be understood.

Incidentally, D[i][i]amn is considered to be the worst swear word out there by practising Christians. However, i do not see it as a swear word. It is on the censored words list in the GAC though.

I am not going to add any of this to the censor list in the Admin panel without Hutch's gop ahead first though.

The Bible Jat. To D*** someone is the ultimate insult, since it means eternity in hell. It is the original "swear word" as we know it.

Well, no human has the real authority to do that, so it seems like a pretty null swear word to me.

Not really off-topic, since this about what is and isn't a bad word to use.

I'm just relaying the fact that Damn is a swear word to the eyes of some. So is Hell, incidentally - both are concepts in Christianity that dare not speak their name. Silly, I know.

Well, I'm a fairly hardcore Christian but I don't believe in hell, the trinity, and a number of others because they were introduced (by the Apologetics I think ) way after the Bible was finished. So in my eyes they're very human concepts and not worth following as part of religion.

I think I'll have to again, copy this for the revised rules. Thanks for the help vek, plagiarizing your work is much easier than making your own.

It's not necessary to have to censor everything that may or may not offend certain people... just be aware when people are trying to use language in an aggressive way.
