Organizing Sections.

I am currently refitting all the sections. Adding the intro threads and such. Now I want to know what sections are staying and which ones are not. Like say the kinda pointless rules one?

Hutch is the only one who can answer that, i think he is waiting a bit as i helped him remove the SPAM section. He hasn't mentioned to me about removing anything else yet.

I think some of the sections can be merged, but let's wait for Hutch to outline the plan.

I didn't know moderators could do that. Nobody ever tells me anything anymore!

EDIT: Also, you should do something about the existing moderator discussion section.

DOUBLE EDIT: My suggestion is that you change the RP section to the forum game section. There is not enough of a GAC population for RPs to take up a whole section, so the forum games should be put in there too.

I disagree, that would be the opposite of organizing. The RPs and OOC's would get all mixed up with the other off topic threads in a chaotic mess for the RPers.

If we got rid of it, a number of people would leave.

So true. I guess the RP section is here to stay.

I just want to know what ones are staying, so I dont spend too much time for sections that re not staying. EHhhh I will write some up for the sections that need it and may be subject to delete I guess.

You should start a list in the OP.

As for me, I think the rules section definitely needs to stay. We can keep on adding on to it with new rules threads, and if we get a master rules thread, we can make it an announcement and add all the other threads to it. You like?

The rules should get taken out. The new official rules Hutch will hopefully set should replace the outdated global announcements.

Oh yeah, speaking of global announcements, those need to be replaced really badly.

Drew, sticky those Intro threads! When they're locked they will just sick into the abyss of threads. PM an Admin if you don't know how to do.

How come mods can do this? It requires admin access to do all this.

Mods should be able to sticky, make announcements and global announcements though.

I think the GA's can only be removed by Cam, IDK how it all works. All I know is that I cant sticky threads. Kinda a set back to my little project.

Drew, at the bottom of the OP when you edit it, do you not see the options?

I see all the other ones, lock, move topic, merge, ECT. But the only one not there is the sticky one.

So you don't see those options?

If not, I know what the problem is, only admins can solve it.

Hmmm.... I'd need to look at the admin panel, but I think I know the problem. Mods have not got the right to do special messages, and I think they should.

When an admin is on they can sort it out.

Oh, btw, I think we need fewer Global Announcements - in fact just one, and that being the Rules and Guidelines.

Thanks Shadow, I am in there now, and I have made the following changes, hope that is OK.

I have granted Moderators permission to compose Special Messages in ALL section except CHATBOX COMMITTEE since that area is no longer in use. I suggest deleting it, but have not as it is not my place.

I have merged the two Moderator Discussions, seems redundant having two. I have also moved the Admin Discussion to the Admin area.

Looking at the structure, I suggest the following things to clean it up a bit.

General Discussion and Spore Discussion should be merged. Surely they are one and the same?

Tips and Tutorials could be merged with Advice - again, seems to be doing the same thing.

Your Artwork could be expanded to an entire Media area.

I have a load of other suggestions, but they should keep you going for now.

I said the same thing about a week back. I am now finishing off the section intros.
