I've got a problem...(Requesting lock)

A 'friend' of mine on Facebook sent me a link to a website that wasn't safe. Luckily the website was blocked because of my security preferences. However, I'm not sure if it still managed to steal some personal information....how can I be sure?

Edit: By personal information, I mean security/private information. Important things.

Once this is resolved, I'd like this to be locked.

Didn't you say it was blocked? If so. You should be fine, at the absolute worst, they have your IP address, which isn't really bad. The only time there is danger is when you provide some sort of information, and even then, they won't be able to rip personal information from your computer.

Also, you may want to seriously re-evaluate your friendship with this kid.

Though there is the chance your browser/antivirus software is blocking you for no good reason.

I have little knowledge on the matter, but the website might contain 'safe' cookies or whatnot and your oversensitive security settings may have blocked you. Just a thought.

Well, she was sending the link to everyone else...and I mean everyone. Even the people she didn't know. It seemed a bit suspicious. The website shows up as being forgery or something like that.

Okay, you've got to tell her to change her password immediately, as it has been compromised by a spammer.

EDIT: Also, you might want to tell her to look over her apps on her Facebook account, and look for whatever it is that's causing the mass messaging, Apps can do that if she allows it to enter her account.

It's also possible that she deliberately shared an infected website for the purpose of causing damage to her friends. Likely as a practical joke. I'm not going to judge her for taking a prank too far (I've been there before) but what she did was wrong. Make sure she knows that.

What can apps do? The messages she posted on their walls were all different, but they had the same link.

I don't know much about Facebook stuff, but I do know that running yourself crazy with worry isn't going to help the situation. There was one time when I somehow managed to find myself on a malware infested sight, to which I panicked and spent the next three days downloading malware scanners, convinced my computer had a virus. I ended up finding a virus, but it was from something completely different. I know this is a bit different, but things we make out to be a big deal often aren't in the end. Only if you've seen some notable manipulation of your accounts or computer should you start to really get worried.
