Ah yes, the TV mod. I saw the Yogscast's video on it. I'll have to take a look at it sometime...
It has a really annoying installation method which took me a while to figure out, as you have to install a program called "Xuggler". If you like (and if you use a PC, as I can't really help much with Macs) I could make a quick tutorial on how to install it.

Please make a tutorial. :P

I'm quite happy to see editable books making an appearance in this week's snapshot, though I'm a bit concerned that we can only say the author as our minecraft name. Hopefully this will change, though.

I like the book thing too, but when I open one the background isn't like a leathery brown paper texture, it's all white and says "MISSING". It's very annoying.

Okie dokie, TV tut here
How to install the TV mod using Windows:
Spoiler:
1. Download the following files: TV Mod: http://adf.ly/6l1Ow Modloader: http://www.minecraftforum.net/topic/75440-v125-risugamis-mods-everything-updated/
2. Drag the Modloader files into your minecraft.jar as you would normally, as well as the files found in the "To Minecraft Jar" folder of the TV mod.
3. Drag the files inside the "To .minecraft Folder" folder of the TV mod into, you guessed it, the .minecraft folder.
Now usually, you would think to install Xuggle from it's main page, but the newest version forces you to make your own Xuggle by using programs you are probably not farmilliar with. SCREW THAT.
4. Install Xuggle 32bit, which can be downloaded here:http://www.mediafire.com/?2k03e43374861kq (This is probably the first mod I've seen where you have to install another program to make it work.)
5. Once Xuggle was installed completly, restart your computer. Afterwards, go Computer/C:/Program Files/Xuggle and delete these files: bin, include and share
6. Open another window with the 64 bit patch files for Xuggle open, and drag everything but the README.txt file into C:/Program Files/Xuggle to replace the files deleted.
7. Close the file windows and open up Minecraft, and go onto a Creative game. Find of build a wall that is at least 2 X 4 blocks.
9. In your inventory, there should be a TV in your inventory before the list of inks and eggs. Put one in your hotbar, and then try to place it on the wall like a painting.
If you see this, you've done everything correctly!
If the game pauses and starts saving chunks, you haven't installed Xuggle correctly and Minecraft just crashed. Y U NO FOLLOW INSTRUCTIONS
When you've got it working, exit the game and go to Appdata/Roaming/.minecraft/resources/mod/TV and plonk all the videos you want to watch into it. (I'd reccomend using videos with the .avi filetype, as the mod seems to have trouble playing other filetypes like mp4.)
Go back ingame, and get yourself a remote. With it equppied, right click the TV on the wall, and it will play the first video in it's list. Shift-Right click to shift to the next video. Enjoy!
Resizing the TV: In the .minecraft file, you should have put in the file "TV.properties". Open that file in Notepad and you should see this:
The highlighted part is what you change, obviously.
Note that making the TV too big will result in this weird display error:
I'd reccomend the Width to be 4, and the Height to be 3.
And you're all done! Have fun with the mod!

So which Minecraft is better? 360 or PC? I've heard the 360 version is much better. (Keep in mind that I don't use mods.)

PC: Unlimited worlds, better control scheme (Mouse + keyboard) Larger multiplayer servers, better graphics (I'm almost certain PC minecraft looks better) texture packs, you already own it, and mojang can constantly release updates and patches
Xbox: Limited worlds, arguably worse control scheme, limited to eight people on multiplayer, a nifty tutorial world, no texture packs or modability to be seen, and you're at the mercy of microsoft.

xbox also has the no lag factor and the nifty crafting information(which is both irritating and useful at the same time). Plus if you have rl friends its much easier to do multiplayer on the 360. Unfortunatly, its way darker on the 360 (without light you can't even really see at night :o), lightsources don't seem nearly as effective, and theres no freaking sprint. Probably better to go with pc, but the xbox one isn't so bad.

I for one, hate the new light engine, I missed the old one where if it were night, you wouldn't be able to see much if anything. You feared the night, and didn't go into caves without torches unless you had a death wish. unlike now, where you miss out on the fine details, but you can still see pretty much everything.
Anyone know if there is a mod for that? I'd really like to see the pre 1.8 lighting again.

I like the 360 MineCraft, its based on the 1.6 Beta version so the terrain, atmosphere, and look of the game is a a lot more familiar to those who jumped on the MineCraft bandwagon during the Beta updates. There is also, as Shadow said, no lag which is a great plus for those who have slower computers and lag-out constantly. The worlds are limited and small, but they are still a good size. I'v has plenty of fun exploring the 1.6 world engine and I have gotten lost numerous times. (There are future updates planned for the 360, BTW)
Thought there are some things I don't like. As Hutch said there is no mod-ability(at the moment) and there is no way to change texture packs either. Another thing is, since it is 1.6, there is no sprint, no pistons, and no enchantments. The bow and arrow also functions the way it used to, which is really annoying (I want to line up my shots, not go rapid fire on them). Probably the most annoying thing about the 360 is the crafting. You have to scroll through multiple pages of selections instead of just arranging the blocks in the 3X3 bench. You have to be careful where you click when you are crafting because you might get something completely opposite of what you want.
In my opinion, and probably many others, the PC MineCraft is far better. More freedom and updated. But I wouldn't say that the 360 is all that bad either, and I would really like to see how Microsoft chooses to use it.

I jumped on minecraft during the early alpha. I was roaming the neon green fields and simplsitic fields before all this overtly complex garbage.
I sometimes wish Mojang would release the .Jars from past upates, I sometimes have this irrestiable urge to go back and re-live my first minecraft experiences.

Does turning the brightness to moody and turning smooth lighting off not do anything?

Switching it to moody was one of the first things I did when 1.8 came out, was still too bright for me.
The old lighting engine had insanely dark nights, keep in mind.
