Hello,
I am
Hydromancerx. You may know me from Gaming Steve , Spore Planet, the Official Spore Forum, Sagan 4 or even DeviantArt. I have been a long time fan of Spore since the early days when Will Wright first posted the first demo at the GDC.
Back then I developed one of the first Spore fan fiction known as the Naucean. This spawned a whole boom of fan made species even before the game came out. I also ran my own Spore Fan site called "Spore Planet" where people could post their own drawings however it died even before the game came out.
In addition my Naucean was made by some NASA scientist and was shown on the Spore website for a time before the game came out.
Eventually the Spore team recognized my work and invited me to play with an early version of the creature editor back at E3 2006. It was really neat and I got to meet Will Wright and Caryl Shaw.
After that I started devloping my own alien ecosystem project called Sagan 4. We evolve one creature at a time. Each are hand drawn (or made by computer if they can do it from scratch). We have been doing it for over 3 years now and it just keep growing and evolving. It is what I had wished Spore would have been, rather than what it is now.
Also I worked on the Creature Editor 3.0 with Huggkruka, which was a 2D version of the Creator Creator that eventually came out. This helped people show their creations who did not have the ability to draw. I am still very proud of that fun little program. Hover once the real once came out there was no need to update it.
Anyways eventually after that the Spore team called upon me again to come and visit Maxis studio for Spore Community Day 2008. It was a lot of fun and a dream come true. It was like visiting Willy Wonka's chocolate factory for me. The sad part was that Will Wright was in Asia at the time and could not meet us. However we got to meet everyone else and I even left my copy of WIRED magazine with them so Will Wright could sign it and mail it back to me (I left the postage for it).
Since then the game came out and I was a bit disappointed. However they asked me if i wanted to become a "Spore Master" so I said sure. But that eventually got old fast and I am currently an inactive Spore Master on the Official Spore forum.
I liked GA mainly because I suggested that they add a quest-like feature to Spore (wich i guess they listened). I once and awhile make some adventures like my PaleoQuest series. You can find all of my adventures here. And of course my Spore Page here.
However I am not all Spore I also mod for Sims 2, Civ 4, Neverwinter Nights, Zoo Tycoon 2 and even post a Meta Game from time to time.
Needless to say I am always busy working on something creative. Oh and did I mention I have a Bachelors of Science in Game Art and Design? Well I do. ;)
Thanks for reading!
