| Here's a top-secret technique that I made up myself. I normally don't tell people my secrets, but this is really cool and this is a pretty small forum so my hidden techniques are probably safe. I must warn you, it takes a very skilled adventure/prop editor to do this. This is what will happen in the adventure: You take a couple of objects (no more than three) and put them together to make a complete structure or add on to a structure! Cool, huh? Now, here comes the tricky part. To make it, follow these steps: - Let's assume you're putting together a statue, and the three parts are legs, torso, and head. First, make the completed statue in the building editor, complete with a small pedestal, and decide which parts will be head, torso, and legs.
- Next, after saving the finished statue, take off ALL the parts except the head. Save that as a separate creation. The head should be in the same exact place as it was when you made the statue, floating in the air.
- Now save the head, and make a more detailed version of it, this time sitting on the ground.
- Repeat steps 2-3 with torso and legs. Make the pedestal separately.
- Now that you have saved all of these, go into the adventure editor and make the pedestal into a building.
- Then, make three gates and disguise them as the original head, torso, and legs, NOT the more detailed ones. Make sure all three gates are different colors.
- Make three keys of the head, torso, and legs, each color key corresponding to the correct colored gate. (if head gate is red, make head key red as well) Disguise the keys as the more detailed parts.
- WITHOUT changing elevation of the gates, assemble them into the shape of the statue. Finally, make the gates invisible when unopened and visible when opened.
There you go. If you did it right, then when you bring the head to the pedestal, the head should appear, and same with the other parts. If you want this to be the goal of an act, then you need to use a messenger. (I'm assuming you know what a messenger is) Make the messenger's behavior is set to: 1. Idle when aware of head gate 2. Idle when aware of torso gate 3. Idle when aware of legs gate 4. Move to pedestal. I'm not sure if that's right, so you'll have to experiment with it yourself. Anyway, make the goal of the act "bring messenger to pedestal" and when all three parts are in, it should move toward the statue. Make sure the messenger is well hidden; you don't want people killing it by accident! And of course, you should probably hide that goal. If these directions are not clear (which I'm sure they're not ) then please ask me for help, I'd be glad to help out my fellow Sporeons.

Precisely. In addition, you can find the parts in any order you want, and it can all fit into one act.

| BTW, make sure you don't tell this to other creators unless they have earned your trust and believe in their potential as an adventure maker. I made this myself (after viewing a tutorial by Maxis, but whatever) so make sure it stays a hidden technique! | |

Contradiction? Or were you inspired or something? And this really isn't a secret technique. Most skilled adventure creators know this already. It's a rather common practice really. The originality comes in on the making things change not in act. I actually tried making an adventure based soley off this technique once, but I never finished it. It was called Spice tycoon. Spice crates would spawn, that were made of red keys, and you could use these to open gates that became objects that you could interact with. There was a trampoline, a computor, and a few other things too. I never finished it though, because there really wasn't any goal. You could just do what you wanted to. It's a pretty cool idea, and I applaud you for figuring it out, but the whole 'Top Secret' thing... not really.

Oops. Well, at least I had the right idea. I actually did think of it myself, without knowing that other creators do it too. Whatever. I still think it's cool! Unfortunately, I've never found a good use for it either. - Glasspinne wrote:

Isn't that what I said?

| There are plenty of good ways to use it, I just never got around to doing it myself. The statue idea works well in any arceological adventure, and it makes an excellent tool for bringing in a little backstory for dedicated players. | |

| I think I found a good use for this technique: Taking three stone blocks, and putting them together to open a door. I'm using it in an upcoming adventure. I'll be sure to post it here when I'm done. | |

That's the adventure I got the inspiration for my tutorial for. The constant teleporting was confusing, so I took that part out.
