[This is the second IC thread for the Nerrone's Rangers RP. For the original, click here.]

Nerrone's Rangers: a small mercenary group operating in sector B-12, fourth spiral arm of the Milky Way Galaxy. Lead by a hard-bitten Arthinnil and a cunning rogue Mallium, this motley crew of soldiers, specialists and vagabonds travel the cosmos taking on any assignment: from burglary to assassination, for good cause or bad, for the money or for the kicks. If you can name it, they will do it... For the right price.

Things are brewing in this galaxy, and there is no-one better placed to see it than those who travel under the radar. A Coalition of allied empires fights tooth and nail to keep peace and justice alive in their corner of the galaxy, and a power known only as The Kingdom schemes its campaign of fire and conquest to take over. Caught in between is every innocent, every scumbag and every bounty hunter just trying to make his way in the universe.

"As for the plan...simple. We lure a few guards away from the group, knock them out, steal their uniforms, and enter the shaft. The civilians won't care, and I'm sure we could talk our way past the staff if necessary."

Celdryc's blade penetrated the shield of its target's back, but the force of the blow was dispersed enough that the soldier's armour still managed to deflect the blow. The soldier turned, quickly swinging the butt of his rifle around automatically as he did so, aiming to wallop his assailant at chest level.

Presently Bor, Rhak, Talvox and Crycell came into view of the transit station. It was not a particularly large terminal, but quite a busy one: along the left side beyond the wide entrance was an inquiry desk manned by two smartly-dressed station attendants, and opposite stood a row of elevators. Straight ahead of the entrance, beyond the elevators, a line of toll barriers restricted access to a modest tube station platform. A number of civilians were coming and going, mostly passengers from the transit tube that had just arrived: each of them swiped a card across a scanner to satisfy the barriers and allow them to pass and enter Concourse Alpha. Standing nearby were a pair of security guards; lightly armed and armoured, but with a good view of the station.

One set of elevator doors, as promised, hosted a large black and yellow sign, in which bold print loudly declared it out of order and apologised for the inconvenience.

Two guards, both with good view over terminal. Blindspot? Yes. Best way possible; disappear in crowd. Alternative; play bold and lie that you are to check out the elevator.
Alternive 2; Synchronised attack, take out guards and station attendants before they alarm the security.
Possible strategy; Fan out. If in a group you will attract attention from guards. No gun fire, will panic crowd, can assume hostility. Take out guards using close stun? Negative, have to time with the crowd, before guard 2 notice.
Route? Alternive etrance? None to be found.
Verdict; infiltrate crowd, find key areas. Take out guards, if problem, stun. No kill, will attract attention. Scanners? Got pass. Legal Acheen immigrant, ex-veteran.

This monologue took place in Rhak's head when he saw the terminal. He whispered towards Bor.
"You think the guards have clothes that you can fit in? I don't know how you got here, but I'm here legally."
Rhak leaned back, inspecting the Lynski.
"My armor is technical a medical suit that is standard for most Acheen. If I leave my weapons to you..." Rhak took off the holsters containing the dagger and pistol and lay them carefully on the floor. "...I can get in there unnoticed. I can try to talk them into getting you in. If not, you can go with your plan."
Which is taken from a spy movie, Rhak thought but didn't say to the Lynski.
He leaned towards a wall, looking at Crycell and Talvox. He pointed towards them.
"What do you guys think?"

The new ammunition that Flank had loaded up on was the second of the four types he could fire: 17mm shell. Fired at supersonic speeds like his 17mm FLAK rounds, they were used to do anything an explosive could do at long range, and they were fantastic at long range; ripping apart hostile troopers and machines alike. But this wasn't long range. The shell would land instantaneously if he fired it at his closest attackers.

Flank pressed his back to the pipe and once again swiveled his cannon around to aim at the feet of some of the soldiers who had fired at him. His stealth helmet and built-in comm. link was still powered down.

(A big thank you to Potato for helping me out. I did edit some bits but other then that, tis perfect! :D)

Instead of a bomb dive attempt, Chalen thrusted himself through the air, angling himself toward the cluster of soldiers. He may not have been able to hurt the soldiers, and he certainly couldn't fight them all with his clawhands, so he would distract them instead.

Bianca approached the same soldiers with a silence that only a whisper on the wind could hope to match. When she was close enough, she reached into her backpack and pulled out a round, glass jar full of translucent, purple-ish liquid. She pulled her sleeve over her mouth and tossed the bottle like a grenade towards the feet of the soldiers.

As it landed, Bianca slipped back into the shadows to wait for the potion to take effect. The bottle shattered into tiny shards of thin glass, and the liquid inside began to vapourise, taking on the form of a diminutive, purple cloud that enveloped the soldiers and smothered them.

Chalen hurtled towards a pair of troopers who had poked their heads out of cover to fire on Flank, and one of them stumbled backwards as the space sprite ricocheted off him. As he struggled to keep his balance without stepping out of cover, he fired a burst of shots at the small flying creature.
"Freaking Pixie!"

The gas from Bianca's attack, meanwhile, managed to envelope one of the soldiers nearby even as those near him moved as far away from the small cloud as possible without exposing themselves. The cloud also passed dangerously near to Celdryc.

((Shar, you'll have to state what the effect of this gas is.))

"Flank, wait!" Dagon shouted across the room, seeing the FLAK cannon being leveled at where Chalen was flying. Dagon currently had very little idea what was in Flank's latest rounds, but there was little doubt a gun that big had potential to cause friendly fire.


((Right, we're down to 7 enemies, so let's give them individual designations to allow us to co-ordinate: Trooper A is currently countering Celdryc's backstab attempt, Trooper B was knocked off-balance by Chalen and is the one who spoke; Trooper C is right next to B.

D and E are reasonably close together and taking cover behind an arrangement of pipes, and D has been exposed to Bianca's gas (therefore D and E are also somewhat close to A). F and G are on their own at the far left and right-hand sides of the room respectively, keeping the rest of Team A pinned down as best they can with blaster fire.))

Bor answered Rhak before Crycell and Talvox could: "If you point us out to the staff, then my idea won't work since they'll recognize us. I think we should try one, then attack if it doesn't work."

Then he got another idea. Indicating the elevator doors with the Out of Order sign, he asked, "Guys, how strong do you think those doors are? Do you think we could punch through it with a single shot from one of our weapons?"

Celdryc was hit by the soldiers rifle, but he was more suprised at the soldier's reflexes than by the blow. He was going to louge in for the kill with his daggers, but then noticed the cloud of seemingly toxic vapors spreading around the room. Instead, he kicked the soldier(A) as hard as he could in the chest toward the cloud.

As the others left to join team A, IO went down a nearby corridor that he hoped was the way towards Quark. Even before being injured Quark wouldn't have stood a chance against more than one guard, but alone with the possibility of being swarmed by several guards? If I don't get there before he screws something up, he's doomed... IO thought to himself. The hallways were suprisingly not guarded, the must not have expected anyone to even make it this far. There was the occasional guard or two coming off of a nearby corridor, but IO simply hid in the shadows or behind a corner for a few moments as they walked past. Though he didn't like not killing things that were a threat to him, he didn't want to alert the whole facility (Though how the fight with the Aegraa hadn't, he would never quite figure out). Eventually he came to what he hoped was the corridor that lead to where Quark and Cuna were.

"Quark" He said through the comms "Im either headed your way right now, or about to walk into the lounge room for the guards. Hopefully its the first one."

Flank was about to fire his deadly explosive at soldiers B and C when Chalen dived into his line of sight and bounced off his target as if either one were made of rubber.
"For God's sake!" he hissed. "Get out of the way!"
As he looked around for a new target, he heard his name called out from across the room. The rest of Dagon's call was lost under the pounding of guns. Assuming his help was needed, he packed up his box and backpack and slung it between his wings again before picking up his new rifle. He ran out of cover once again, keeping himself as low as possible to avoid grappling the attention of every soldier with an otherwise good view of him. Weaving his way between pipes and other large objects in the vast room, he dropped down next to Dagon and covered the rear.

Now that he had a good handle on where his opponent was, Trooper A managed, by a stroke of luck and a quick dodge to the left, to avoid all but a glancing hit from his assailant's foot. Sparing only the briefest of glances for the cloud of gas billowing behind him, he brought his blaster rifle back around and let off a string of shots straight towards Celdryc at close range.

"Turned into a bit of a free-for-all, hasn't it?" Dagon said as Flank moved into position beside him. He ducked a little lower as another blaster bolt charred the pipe he was using as cover. Trooper G had been taking shots like this at him every time he so much as moved in the last two minutes, as if the persistent little bugger had decided exactly who he wanted pinned down and was determined to stick to the plan even as the rest of the pumping station dissolved into chaos.

Shortly after Flank joined Dagon his armour battery finished absorbing and regulating energy to the rest of his armour, and his stealth helmet finally began to operate again. Two things happened however. First, his comm. link was set to channel 1, thus keeping him oblivious to the fact that a woman was controlling the operation.
Secondly, the music player in his helmet suffered a strange glitch, and began playing a random song halfway through on full volume. It was obviously a love song.

Through Autumn's golden gown we used to kick our way,
you always loved this time of year.


Flank whacked the side of his helmet repeatedly, blood rushing to his head, hoping to hit the pause, stop, or volume-down command. The song continued to play slowly.

Those fallen leaves lie undisturbed now,
'cause you're not here.


Seconds dragged on uncomfortably. It wasn't a quick song.

'Cause you're not here.

Flank's desperate efforts seemed to have no effect. He was close to anguish.

'Cause you're--

He finally found the pause button, and the song ceased to play. Reluctant to meet Dagon's gaze, he kept his head down and tried to activate his stealth field again.
"Just... shut up, okay."

Two of the shots connected with Celdryc's shoulder, who grimaced in pain for a second, then sidestepped to a new position and stabbed out at the soldier with both his daggers.

"Whatever." Flank sighed as his visual form vaporised from head to foot. He would feel less embarrassed if no one could see him for a while. As trooper G continued to hold Dagon down, Flank decided what would make him feel better about himself.
"Say goodbye to your friend." He said to Dagon from thin air. He rose, his cannon levelling as he reached his full height. Drawing a lock on the lonely soldier in the corner, Flank fired one of his explosive payloads.

With thoose words, Rhak went through the scanners. Unarmed except the his hidden blade, he would try to help the mercs. Even though it meant using brute force, a choice which angered Rhak. Civillian casualties was accepted during the wars he'd been in. Kill the minority to save the majority. But this was a sabotage mission. Which the Rangers, or more likely the Lynski lacked the finesse to do quietly.
Rhak melted with the crowd, watching from the shadows. Gazing on the three armored figures. Then towards the guards. People only doing their job.

We've set up the circuit cascade style fail system using my own virus, technically, it's virus 543t, but I call it the 'What Just Destroyed The System' virus. I-" Quark could see he was irritating IO, so he got to the point, "Well, anyway, me and 'Cuna can destroy the fail safe system in just a minute...Like the name implies, the system will shut off so abruptly, they won't even know what turned off the system. Another thing about the system is that they won't be able to repair it for a long time. I mean really long"

Trooper G managed to take cover as the shell made impact. However, this meant only that the shards of metal that subsequently pierced his legs and caused innumerable cuts across his body were from the rupturing of the pipe he was hidden behind rather than the shell itself, which caused enough noise to not only wake the dead but have them out of their graves and shouting at the pesky young'uns to keep it down.

The target was now unprotected by shields and not going anywhere fast, but apparently retained enough determination to not simply slide back into cover and wait out the rest of the fight — perhaps in part because the ground was covered in a whole host of razor-sharp shards of metal. Grimacing, Trooper G pulled himself back up, took careful aim at where a thin trail of smoke still spiraled from Flank's weapon, and let off a burst of shots.


Celdryc's blades, meanwhile, scored a cut straight down Trooper A's side. Cursing, the soldier held his breath and dodged backwards into the thick cloud of gas, letting off another series of short-range blasts at his attacker, attempting to force Celdryc to back off.

With a new determination, Flank jumped to the right to avoid the baster shots. He did not succeed; for one shot struck his left bicep. "Aaaaargh!" he cried.
He gasped with pain as he backed against another huge pipe, clutching his wound. Thick, crimson blood leaked from it, trailed down his charcoal arm and dripped to the floor, out of his stealth field. It replaced the expired smoke trail from his cannon as an indicator to his location.

From his new position Flank had a slightly different angle on the soldier. He was even angrier now that he had taken a direct hit, and the pain didn't leave. Taking a ragged, gasping lungful of air he held his breath to steady himself. He fired again at the soldier.

Celdryc backed away as the soldiers blasts came, one of them hitting his arm slightly. As the soldier backed away, he remembered that his main priority wasn't killing soldiers right now, so he placed the charge and started to look for the final pipe.

Flank's shell detonated in the general direction he fired it into. The explosion spoke with a deafening rumble that shook every pipe in the station and drowned out all other sounds. Whether the soldier survived it or not wasn't on Flank's mind anymore. He hurried back toward Dagon, gingerly cradling his arm, and knelt beside him again. Dagon wouldn't be startled; Flank's presence was given away by both another smoke trail and a worrying amount of blood dripping to the floor.
"I almost forgot!" he yelled above the sound of the battle, before pausing to take a gasping breath, "There was a Coalition ship docked by the city! I think they're after you all!"

Naboo9 was swearing under his breath almost the entire battle, the hard part to anyone who knew why hew was swearing was figuring out if it was from pain or irritation. " 'bout fritting time." he muttered when his eye came back online after it was taken out by the EMP. Naboo9 shouldered his sniper rifle and aimed for the head of the enforcer that wasn't getting kicked, stabbed, or getting turned into a blood fountain, trooper F, and fired.

The potion was made of blue spice mixed with a red evaporating agent. Together, they made a potent, purple, sleep inducing liquid that vaporised as it came into contact with oxygen. As some of the soldiers took their first breaths inside the cloud, they began to feel intolerably drowsy. The idea of lying down and resting where they stood, forgetting their worries, forgetting the fight, was so appealing it could hardly be resisted. Satisfied that her plan is a success, Bianca wisely retreated back into the shadows and out of sight. She didn't want her friend or the others to see her sudden apperance...the timing isn't right yet.

Chalen was clearly confused. One minute these guys we're keen on blasting him then all of a sudden they fell asleep. He hadn't noticed the cause was that of the gas/cloud's doing. Flank's yell shatterd his thought's, facing to their current situation. "Aggh! Right! We still being attacked and now Flank's after getting hurt that big dope!" Doing nothing more then muttering silently, he flew over to Flank's aid.
