The Elton System. A part of space brimming with resources and life. Many have come to it for the sake of glory, fame and wealth. Corporations have set up mining stations and offices all over the system, followed by the Systems Union the government for the sector.
However not all are satisfied by the recent immigration to the Elton system.
Because where there is money, there is power and where it is power there is corruption.
The corporations doesn't let anything stand in their way, and hires mercenaries, bounty hunters and thieves to give them an edge.
But something else is working in this new wild west.
Working behind the shadows.
This is my first try to an RP and any advise would be appreciated.
This takes place in a non Spore universe, but you're welcome to use your creations anyway. I'm not picky. Rules
Since Delta have made such great rules, and I'm to lazy to write the rules, I have copied the rules from Nerrone's Rangers.
I give all credit to Delta about the rules.
-All the usual rules of roleplaying apply here --
no godmodding or controlling other people's characters without their consent please.
-You may create a maximum of two characters. These can be characters you have created in Spore or an original character derived from a different sci-fi franchise or your own mind if you feel like it — just make sure that it is neither unfairly overpowered nor an existing character from a different franchise — including humans, if you like. Fill out the character sheet below (an image is not required) and post it here: if it qualifies then I'll add it to the OP and you can enter whenever you like.
-Roleplaying should only take place on the IC Thread
, and only if you have first posted a character sheet here and had it approved.
-If you need to post out-of-character in the IC thread, do so in ((double brackets)) to prevent confusion.
-If either I or another player creates an NPC — who temporarily appears for one reason or another within the RP — they should be treated just as you would treat other player characters, including in combat (see below).
-Combat: When fighting a character that is controlled by someone else, including any NPC's, you should state your attack rather than stating that you hit them.
For instance, instead of "Alice punches Bob in the face, knocking him to the ground," consider: "Alice throws a punch
at Bob's face, attempting
to knock him to the ground." The second statement is better because A: it gives Bob the chance to make a post dodging, blocking or deflecting the attack to a different part of the body (or just straight-up posting his reaction to being punched in the face) and B: it states the potential consequences of the blow connecting, which is a useful guide for when Bob posts. The first statement does not give Bob such an opportunity and is classed as an 'insta-hit', which is a form of godmodding. Also it should be noted that Bob shouldn't dodge every
attack aimed at him: that would be as inconsiderate as insta-hitting. Which is godmodding.
-Always be considerate towards other players --
they want to have fun too.
_________________________________________________________________________The Story so far
Do I really have to say anything about this one? It contains a brief note on what have happened before, for people who want to get in and if they've missed a part.
I'll do one for the prologue as soon as it is finished.CODEX
I've filled up the CODEX.
The Colonization War is the name of the war that started at the colonization of the Elton System. The resulting war made the terra forming operation on Renkoor a failure. The Colonization War was done to make the system independent from the Systems Union and is one of the few that have succeeded in doing so. The colonies still bears scars from the wars, while some uses the old battlefields as trophies. One of the latter is used as the ground for Bahaan City. The city is built on the ruins of the first settlement on Bahkarr that was prone to orbital bombardment.
The agents of an unknown assailant, project Achilles members was first encountered on Bahaan City during a court against the mercenaries. The agile assassins are a wicked mixture of organic and synthetic parts, with extended cybernetic implants.
They make up for their name, as they can take incredible amounts of damage. Even surviving piercing shots through their chests, the project Achilles members are impervious to gun fire or other close combat weapons as knives or daggers. They however lack a defense against fire and can be killed by burning or cooking their biological parts.
The Achilles are masters at close combat and are incredible agile foes, being able to avoid shots. They also showed the ability to climb impossible surfaces as well as the lack of weapons. However, the autopsy of a dead Achilles member showed the cybernetic implants abilities. With nano formations, they can be able to climb completely smooth surfaces by grabbing the molecules themselves. The nano formations can also be used to transform the hands and legs to dangerous weapons able to pierce heavy armor.
Renkoor is the fifth planet in the Elton system from the sun counted. Being one of the planets pointed out for the dangers of terra-formation. During the Colonization War, the terra-forming equipment was damaged and the result is now a complete opposite of Bahkarr. The planet is an arid desert world. The atmosphere is thick with evaporated water, and shallow saltwater lakes dot the lower plains. The planet is popular amongst reptilians and many settlements are dotted on the salt deserts.
The main city of Renkoor is ruled by a cast of nobles and are named after the city’s founder; Granq.
The word Liberationals are a hybrid word coming from Liberty and National. It is a group that is against the corporations power and influence in the Elton system. They also see the Systems Union to be working with the corporations and to support them.
The Liberationals believe in the democracy and freedom to the people from the oppressing outer aliens.
The Systems Union has declared the Liberationals as xenophobic terrorists, while the populations of the Elton system are starting a spiral of chaos against any law enforcement in the vicinity.
The Systems Intelligence Office is the semi-military branch of the Systems Union that governs the Elton System and its corporations. Using hi-tech equipment and influence, they control almost every governing body on Bahkarr, Renkoor.
Cerlithium is the mineral necessary for the manufacturing of cybernetic implants. Without the precious metal, the body will reject its augmentations or even destroy the tissue around it. The Elton system is rich in this metal, and other rare resources which have driven the corporations to it.
The plague is a disease that ravages all the major cities in the Elton system. Brought by an unknown alien parasite, the plague is a disease that infects the bone marrow or other blood producing organs/cells in the body. The plague effectively stops the body to produce more blood. To get off-world, people need to take a sample to prove their healthiness before being allowed to leave.
The plague infects through the blood or saliva and infects through wounds, drinking water and food.
Most of the defenses in developed sectors use Automated Defenses, controlled by a SIS Synthetic Intelligence Server. The Automated Defenses are made up by robots, droids, UAV’s and turrets. Everything is digitalized and controlled by pre-programmed computers. Once a SIS is programmed, it looks itself up, preventing any reprogramming without a full code. Only high programmers have the code pieces, and only the SIS knows the correct code.
Shadow Man was the alias for the person working behind the shadows that pitted the Liberationals and the corporations against each other. Being the concept and fulfillment of project Achilles, Shadow Man’s past had been erased.
His most dangerous ability was his intellect which he used to manipulate not only the Liberationals and their charismatic leader, but also the corporations and the Systems Union.
As the pinnacle of project Achilles, Shadow Man is extremely hard to kill having reached the synthesis of organic and synthetic life.
He was also shown to be the leader of the Novus group.
Mysterious commando units, Novus are a wildcard in the struggle between Corporations and liberty groups. While the corporations are after resources and the anti-corporation groups form temporary alliances, the Novus seems to only exist to wreck havoc towards both sides.
As the mercenaries, the Novus seems to be a neutral force with its own agenda.
Stealing, extracting and spoiling operations to both sides, the Novus have the most advanced technology which exists outside the Systems Unions jurisdiction.
Relentless, disciplined and effective, the Novus operations is often noticed too late.
Their standard equipment seems to be following:
>A set of hybrid tech armor (medium/light with increased mobility)
>Weshton custom made mask/helmet hybrid with an advanced reality visor
>One TrL Combat rifle, with kinetic barrel, adjustable stock, extended magazine and laser sight
>One Weshton Revolver Hybrid (WRH)
>4 fragmentation grenades, 2 smoke grenades, 2 flares
There are also cases of special operatives in the Novus ranks, as some have been seen to set up miniature turrets to shield their escape.
The Electro-Magnetic Pulse is a known weapon by most of the organizations in the Elton System. Large sums of money and resources have been put to counteract and to improve the phenomena as a weapon. Each one has found their own way.
Novus have developed technology impervious to the pulse. Sons of Liberty don’t use electrical equipment and uses EMP grenades at their foes. SIO counteracts it with quick reboot protocols.
Manufacturer: Atlas Arms
Considered a middle thing between an SMG and an Assault Rifle, TrL stands for Trinity Laser. The gun however doesn’t shot lasers, but its recoil is low and the rifle has very light weight, giving the impression of a laser when using it. This increases both its accuracy and maneuverability, but it lacks the same stopping power as the rest of the Combat rifles. Its velocity or firing mechanism is based on magnets, and it has therefore great velocity and kinetic force.
Magazine: 20+1 (30+1 with Extended)
Attachments: Laser Sight, Kinetic Barrel, Silencer, Extended Magazine, Adjustable Stock, Tech Tracer
Modes: Single, Triple-Burst, Auto
Manufacturer: Earth Defender
The Y-AR is an old concept renewed with advanced technology. Made by Earth Defender, the Y-AR is a heavy rifle with large magazine size and large accuracy. The recoil is however large, and the weapon must be shot in bursts to be effective at long range.
The Y-AR is almost fail-proof, and is driven by an old projectile system supported by modern technology, and has therefore an effective stopping power.
Magazine: 45+1(60+1 with Extended)
Attachments: 3x Scope, Kinetic Barrel, Silencer, Extended Magazine, Grip, Face Shielding, Holographic Sight
Modes: Double-Burst, Auto
Manufacturer: Earth Defender
The High Tech Katana uses an edge made of a hybrid metal made by fusing diamonds in titanium. The High Tech Katana is a deadly long sword, which can penetrate most universal armors. Favored by assassins, the HT-Katana has reached a huge sale on Bahaan City.
Manufacturer: Weshton Industries
The Electrical Striker is an electrified retractable metal bar at the maximum length of 1½ meters. The share brilliance of its design has put Weshton Industries at the top of the list of weapon producing companies. The Systems Intelligence Office uses a shorted, baton like version of the El-Strike.
The Electrical Striker is lethal at short range and can use the environment to spread its deadly electricity.
Manufacturer: Weshton Industries
Weshton Industries wanted to make a pistol with the same accuracy and stability as a normal sidearm, but with the force and damage as a modern day revolver. The result was the Weshton Revolver Hybrid. Having a large clip and medium range, the WRH is a trusty sidearm that is equally deadly as it is accurate. Thanks for its modern design; it is compatible with most attachments.
Magazine: 8 (12 with Extended)
Attachments: Laser Sight, Extended Magazine, Silencer
This detachable attachment makes projectile based weapons soundless and reduces the exit flares they emit, but at the cost of stopping power.
This barrel replaces the original one. With micro magnets, the kinetic barrel increases the velocity of plasma and bullets, as well as the damage.
The grip gives a greater stability and reduces the recoil of weapons. As a backside, it makes the weapon less maneuverability.
The adjustable stock makes the stock able to be folded down for increased maneuverability, but at the cost of decreased stability.
The face shielding consists of two plates put on a base of the rifle for extra protection.
The scope can be found with different types of zoom. Some can shift from 2x to 4x, while some has 9x and others at 3x.
It increases the accuracy, but is highly affected by recoil.
The extended magazine is just a normal magazine extended. This gives the user an extra period of which he/she can shot, without reloading.
The tech tracer is a system that together with the SWARM mod is a deadly advantage. The tech tracer finds enemy technology by using advanced decoding software and paints them, either for the SWARM or the user of the gun with an infrared laser for the former and a visible laser for the latter.
This enables persons to see enemy positions through walls.
The lightning mod makes the gun or blade an electrical area effect. While the gun now can shot an alternate fire, by spewing out lightning rods, the melee weapons gets a damage boost. Both can affect several opponents, and can stun organic enemies and fry synthetics.
Used on: WRH, HT-Katana, PlSh
Specially enforced kinetic generators are grafted into the weapon and give it an armor piercing ability. The force the kinetic generators build makes the weapon prone to overheat and large kickback. This only work on projectile based guns, and has therefore no effect on plasma, electric or laser based weapons.
Used on: Y-AR, WRH, TrL
>RAPID FIRE MOD
The rapid fire mod makes the use of a double delivery system in the gun, and doubles if not triples the rate of fire by the weapon. This also reduces the accuracy of the weapon, and is not advised to be used on long-range weapons.
Used on: Y-AR, WRH, TrL, PlSh
The SWARM mod lets the bullets of the gun track down targets, going as far as curving around objects. Together with the tech tracer, a SWARM modified gun becomes a force to be reckoned with. Both can however be neutralized by an EMP.
The weapon producers have with new technology been able to produce different kinds of ammunition.
Pellets got their name from their looks of wood pellets. Made by metal, the pellets are only used by Weshton Products, more commonly in their Hybrid series.
Propelled by both traditional systems and magnets, the pellets can get to supersonic speeds, giving them enough kinetic force to shot of limbs. Old entriesBahkarr
Bahkarr is the third planet in the Elton system, counted from the sun, and is the only planet to support natural life. The planet is not hospitable however with fierce rain storms around the equator and muddy plains. It is rich of minerals however and is being mined at several locations on its three continents.
The Systems Union has their seat in the capital city of Bahkarr, Bahaan.Sons of Liberty
The Sons of Liberty is an organization funded on the planet Renkoor in the Elton system. The desert planet was a perfect place for arid terraforming and is the home for most reptilian species in the system.
The Sons of Liberty believes in natural selection and despise cybernetic augments, genetic tailoring, and the use of advanced technology. They however uses technology, namely weapons, to 'bring enlightment' to the ignorant people.
They are classified as terrorists by the Systems Union.Combat Mech
The Combat Mech was encountered at a factory complex that was a part of a larger mining outpost. The Combat Mech is impervious to all small arms fire. Having an advanced tracking system, the Combat Mech can make precision shots with a plasma blaster, which can destroy almost any target.
It does this by shooting a line of plasma in 11 mach, making it a deadly and powerful weapon.
Its other weapon is a heavy machine gun that can suppress its foes with a rain of bullets.
The only known way to destroy a Combat Mech is to make a high pressure on its outer shell, combusting its inner machinery with a shockwave. Only explosives or heavy objects are able to carry out this effect.Dossiers
This will be your character sheet. For a balanced and workable character see my character (John)Dossier FormUser: Your usernameName: The name of your characterGender: The gender of your character, female/male/otherAge: The age of your characterBiography: A long or short backstory for your character. Motives, fears, family, homeworld, speciesEquipment: This covers armor, weapons, tools and clothes.Strengths: Take a skill that is not overpowered, for example, tech savy.Weakness: This can be pyschological as well as physical. But no 'hate lemons'.
John was born in a human noble family in France on Earth but rebelled early in his life, joining the army. He however didn't like the military code and its connections with the criminal world. As a bounty hunter, John caught many criminal thugs and have a wide arrange of contacts in the lower classes of most major worlds.
When the Elton gold rush came, he like all the other mercenaries joined it for a chance to earn easy money.Equipment:
A grey suit for fine dinners and a set of light armor. John's weapons are a March 5 and an LC-11 SMG.Strengths:
John have a vast experience in military strategies and medium range combat. A good physical condition makes him agile and faster than normal soldiers.Weakness:
The lack of heavier armor makes John prone to bullet wounds. He have also developed a minor paranoia and is prone to arrogance, taking away rational behavior from time to time.Credits

Maarucye is of a species known as the Aurbature. He worked as a mercenary, mostly as an assassin, for quite some time. However, on one mission, a rival assassin threw a grenade at Maarucye and he wasn't able to avoid or lessen the detonation. Of his four limbs, only his right leg remained. He also lost an eye and a lot of bone from his skull and back, but he was fortunate that he was on the roof of a hospital at the time. He had acquired much money beforehand, which he spent rebuilding his body. His limbs were replaced with stronger, bionic equivalents, with the exception of his right hand. That was saved and attached to the end of his robotic right arm. His eye was replaced by a wide, hooded lens, and a plethora of curved, metal plates were attached to his body to cover up the areas where he lost bone. There's one on his head, attaching his artificial eye to some more metal on his neck, two serve as shoulder guards, and the rest are spaced out evenly along his spine.
His most recent past he doesn't like to talk about, but it is known that he hasn't seen or heard from his only friend for some time.Equipment:
(Brace yourself) He had the common sense to arm his limbs. On his left arm is a boxy plasma pulser that has three curved blades extruding from the vent at the front. He can shoot with the pulser without interference, but he can also heat up the blades with it. On his other arm is something like a gauntlet, just a plate of metal with three claws on it that it held over his right hand by a frame. On his biceps are two compact batteries for storing energy.
He has two other weapons. The first is a plasma sword. It looks like a short, blunt piece of metal, but when it is drawn, a longer blade of plasma extends from it. His last weapon is one that he had before he was blasted to pieces: a collapsible sniper rifle.Strengths:
His skill is in combat. The metal which makes up so much of his body is a strong alloy that can stop most types of bullets, with the exception of strong armour-piercing ones. His limbs provide him with greater physical strength, and he isn't clumsy with his rifle, either.Weakness:
He is very
heavy. The metal attached to his body brings his mass up to 210 kilograms. As a result, he can't swim very well, and he usually pushes the weight limit of passenger vehicles. The metal also conducts electricity. The batteries can intercept a net charge that starts at his hands without injuring himself, but if he is electrocuted anywhere below the shoulders, the vital organs between the point of contact and the batteries are at stake.Credits
W3RM (just pronounced worm. took me ages to figure that out)Gender:
He could supposedly be the descendent of a dragon or a slug, and it is really hard to distinguish, given his general appearance. He was involved in an illegal combat sport known as Dreadzone, but the space station was destroyed, and he made it out alive. Having not much else to fall back on, he became a mercenary.Equipment:
Two machine guns called Dual Raptors, and a mace called the Leviathan Flail, both purchased from Pox industries. The mace has a devastating, almost explosive strike. Both weapons are collapsible. He also wears a suit of armour standard to his race.
He is quick, lithe, agile, aggressive, and very handy with his weapons. He is also good at swimming.Weaknesses:
He isn't one for taking hits. While his armour will probably keep him alive through most ordeals, it won't completely protect him. He is light, so if push comes to shove, he will be the first to fall over. Since he lacks any proper mission equipment other than his weapons, he's only useful as a hitman or guard.Credits
Miles Tekit (actual first name is Morgan but perfers to be Miles)Gender:
Species human. Miles Tekit was born and raised in Tennessee. From the age of seven, she started to work really hard from looking after her family's chickens to fixing things at frightning high places that no one else would dare so themselves. By the time she reached 18, Miles left her home and went to study science for one one year before joining the army. Life on Earth could've been better in Miles Tekit's case.Equipment:
When she used to be in the army, Miles only had nothing but camo clothing and a sniper rifle. Now Miles has light plating armour, a visior that can detect organic life's heat signals and allowing her to see things from a distance like that of a hawk's. Her new weapon is Locutter (beam sword) and T-42 (pistol).Strengths:
Very althletic, intelligent, a great battle stratgist and is amazingly good at close combat and shooting things from a distance.Weakness:
Unfortunaly, Miles isn't tough as nails like her friends. One big blow is all that it takes to send her flying or crumple to the ground depending on the foe. Should her shoulders be dislocated, Miles will be completely useless for ages.Credits
Cristae (Cris for short)Gender:
Genderless, but preferes to be called a 'she'Age:
Cris belongs to a species of singular-celled organisms known to the miners as "Slimefellas", which live deep undergrounds of Bahkarr, feeding on copper ore. Constant mining has brought the species down to a small population. Cris was brought to the surface one day when she mistakenly decided to steal some freshy mined copper from an ore transportation unit which was due for Bahaan in a few moments. When she reached in to grab some, the unit started up, causing her to fall in out of fright. she was taken to the city, where she was discovered by the employees who were in charge of imports. Frightened and confused, she ran away from the facility, and took to living on the streets, stealing various copper objects from citizens for nutrition. She currently in a small abandoned alleyway within the city's walls.Equipment:
Cris had permanently merged a thin layer of tin around her body to serve as weak armor. She also wears a blue diamond necklace around her neck, due to the Slimefellas' ancient belief that the crystals were bestowed upon them by the "Galactoids" to rid them of their "Negaton" thoughts.Strengths:
It has been recently discovered that Slimefellas have the ability to merge and assume complete control of electronic devices. Cris often uses this ability to merge with scrapped robots (or vehicles, but such situations rarely occurred), which she then uses for combat. Aside from that, Cris can also alter her form if the situation calls for it. Doing this drains a lot of energy, however.Weakness:
if she is not merged with anything, Cris is extremely
vulnerable. She has no way of defending herself, as her delicate body structure is unable to wear heavy armor or carry weaponry, so she has to resort to finding small hiding areas to squish herself into, such as a small crack or drainpipe. She is sensitive to UV rays. She also has a fear of water, as it often causes her to melt when it comes in contact with her.Credits
Arthur Johnson Gender:
Arthur belongs to a space faring race of sentient, bipedal aliens called Orthopterians, that closely resemble arthropods. Orthopterians utilize biotechnology, and only organisms that share their DNA are capable of using their technology. Conceived as slaves, they were bound to serve another, dominant species. Due to artificial modification by a master race through genetic tinkering, the Orthopterians became nothing more than worker-class drones and engineers. They lost all initiative, and became solely dependent on the commands of their masters. Arthur was an engineer that was one of the more resilient members of his race, and managed to bypass the genetic modification that was bestowed upon his people. The Slavers soon became aware of this, and planned on executing Arthur before he would be able to create an opposition. Arthur Fled his home world in hopes of finding a way to save his people. Equipment:
Arthur wears a platted, orange and black exosuit that is worn by the engineers of his race. The exosuit is flame-resistant and adds moderate protection from gunfire. It posses small shoulder thrusters that allow for quick travel in zero gravity, as well as magnetic boots that enable him to attach himself to the hull of a ship. The exosuit is equipped with various sensory modules that allow for him to pick up a variety of radio frequencies. He wields an advanced, modded welding gun that can launch a lethal spray of biodegrading chemicals at close range, as well as an Orthopterian assault rifle that can only be used by his race. Strengths:
Arthur is incredibly strong and resourceful. Arthur is also exceptionally tough and has a very high pain tolerance. He is steadfast, and will risk his life to save his people. He's a skilled engineer, and can construct useful items out of scraps, just as long as he has the right components. Weaknesses:
Arthur has a rather linear mindset, and he's not very optimistic. He's susceptible to armor piecing bullets, which can crack both his engineering suit and his exoskeleton. He also isn't much of a fighter, and doesn't like harming others unless it is completely necessary.Credits
Claros was raised on Atharlo, the satellite to a larger, inhospitable planet. Resources and naturally occurring chemicals were plentiful. Over the years of his childhood, he grew a fondness for chemistry; combining substances together to make useful items. His wealthy lifestyle allowed him to study his interest further. For a short while, he joined the military and learned many skills with many firearms and chemical weapons. With his qualifications, he set out to find new ingredients and elements which he could experiment with. Traveling from planet to planet, moon to moon, with nothing more than money and a small lab set, Claros explored much of the system in search of a chemical cure for his illness.Equipment:
Claros keeps his white lab-coat with him at all times, concealing his equipment underneath. Under his lab-coat, he wears a full suit and a deep-red tie. He carries equipment for handling chemicals and substances like syringes, vials and small explosive packs. Alongside this, he keeps small fire-arms like 34M-Handgun and serrated army knife. Strengths:
He has a broad knowledge in chemicals and small explosive mixtures. He is a logical thinker and tries for every possible solution. As well as this, he can maintain emotional stability and has a reserved personality. Because he traveled for so long, he has a good knowledge of a lot of specific cities and areas.Weakness:
He cannot concentrate properly if he is under stress or panicked. His tall build means that going through small spaces isn't easy, and can cause him to lose balance. His lack of powerful firearms can pose problems unless he can find larger weapons. Due to his special illness, he can become very weak without warning and become subjected to heart pains. According to doctors, his heart could cut out in the near future, resulting in his death.Credits
